Target-0, Amanda-1

A little back story before I start my tale; I have been on a quest for a dressing table for some time. My makeup and beauty supplies have minds of their own, they spread out all over the counter. It drives Andy crazy. I don't blame him, I try to keep up with it but I have a lot of crap and storage in our bathroom is minimal. Anyway, I have been searching for a dressing table to organize my makeup and such and give me my own space to get ready. I have found several options, but haven't pulled the trigger on any until Saturday night.

One of the vanities I was looking at was on Target's website and the website was having a sale, if you spent $125 on furniture you got 15% off your purchase. The vanity was not that much so I looked at the matching stool for the vanity and added it to my cart to get the discount. The 15% off wasn't added to my purchase and I couldn't figure out why. The table had a little disclaimer next to it that said if you spent $125 on furniture you got 15% off but not the stool. I looked at other stools that had the disclaimer, but not the one that matched my vanity. So I decided to call the customer service line to see if they could explain it to me. When I finally got someone on the phone, she took a look at my cart and told me simply, well the offer isn't applied to the stool (which I could obviously see). I explained to her that I could see that but I wanted to know why since it was furniture and my purchase was over $125. She said the same thing, the stool just isn't included in the sale. After asking why three more times and getting the same answer (seriously, it was like an awful Abbott and Costello routine), I thanked her for her "help" and hung up. I was so mad about the whole thing that I ended up not purchasing the set that night.

On Sunday night I decided to see about another vanity but opened the Target vanity to compare styles only to see that both the table and the stool went on sale! The combined price of the two was less than the table's original price! Success! I win! I thank the customer service person for making me so mad that I didn't order the items on Saturday and ended up saving about $60 by waiting an extra day.

Homeless

The problem with building your first house is finding a balance between your current rental agreement and the estimated completion date (which realistically will never be the day that they tell you it is). Which is a problem we are currently facing.

See we currently rent a house from a horrible property management company. Seriously, they are awful, zero communication (unless they want money), the house was a mess when we moved in, they don't do anything for us. Anyway, our lease is up in September and rather than hauling our possessions at fur babies to an apartment for a few months we thought we would go month to month until the house is done. Well, that was a major fail since the horrible management company wants to hike our already exorbitant rent rate up another $100+ dollars and we would be required to give 60 days notice. Andy and I decided for the rate we pay it just wasn't worth it anymore. We moved down here pretty quickly and had to find a place to live fast, which is how we ended up in this house in the first place, so the rate we pay was more than we wanted in the first place. Now we are stuck trying to find an apartment with a short term lease, which is proving difficult and the worst part is we don't know how long we need. Our estimated completion date is in December but we haven't even broke ground yet leading me to think it may be a little longer than we anticipate. So currently, we are homeless, because we have given notice that we will be vacating come September and we haven't found a place that will work with our situation.

Looks like I finally found the downside to building. Boo.

If I could turn back time...

...if I could find a way. I would take back Thursday. Thursday was awful. Thursday I got up super early to go to my parents house to pick up their puppy to watch while they go on a cruise (jealous). I was tired, my reflexes weren't up to par and I was also driving the truck which is much bigger which means longer stop time. I think you see where this is going, when I was in the home stretch, like 20 minutes from home, the car in front of me got cut off and I couldn't stop in time, I rear-ended them. No one was hurt, thank God, He was watching out for all of us that day and I realize it could have been worse but it was still awful. I got cited of course and the truck took some front end damage. The insurance is going to cover everything and the truck should be fixed next week but it was a really trying day. I don't ever want to drive again. I am serious. I really don't care for driving in the first place, this made it worse. I'm just really upset that it happened in the first place, I'm embarrassed really, but I know that it could happen to anyone, it just doesn't feel like that. I'm thankful that my husband was there for me, was so understanding and helped me through the whole day.

In other news, we have some news, some big news that will be posted tomorrow or Monday.

Bad Newlyweds

We are very bad newlyweds. There are multiple that I say this, our thank-you's haven't gone out yet (Don't judge, I feel awful, the only thing making me feel a little less guilty is Miss Manner's rule that we have one year after the wedding to get those suckers out), we haven't unpacked completely, and we haven't done anything with the wedding pictures. Trust me when I say, we are working on it. Everything kind of took the backseat in the months after the wedding. Between my graduation, both of us getting new jobs and moving, we had a lot on our plate, but the dust is (finally) starting to settle and we are getting things done.

First of all, we finally located the gift list to write out our thank-you's this week so we will be able to write them this weekend. Woo hoo! Cross that momentous undertaking off the list (soon), hopefully the guilt of not getting them out yet will stop and our friends and family will understand why there was a six month delay in getting those suckers out (I think we have a pretty legit reasons). Second, there is finally a light at the end of the tunnel with the whole unpacking nonsense. The garage is cleaned out and there are only 4 boxes with stuff in them still and more than likely it will stay that way. Finally, my project for the next couple weeks is going to be to organize our wedding photos into a photo book. Christmas is just around the corner and I know a few parents that would love some pretty pictures to show off. Plus my hope is that by loading our pictures onto the computer I will be inspired to print a few copies of my favorites and actually have some of the beautiful pictures of our wedding day hanging around the house.

So tell us that we are not alone in being a bad newlyweds, is there anyone else out there that hasn't got any other there post-wedding to-do's done yet?
